A Brief Summary Of Armor Types In Ultima
The armor in Ultima in diverse in range of color, material type, and protection. In this article, material will be the one covered. In all, there are six types of armor. Each one has its own charcteristics and strengths.

The first and weakest type of armor is plain leather armor. It is mearly pieces of leather woven together. The armor rating of leather armor is about 13 per piece (the actual total amount added to
i the AR varies depending on where is is on the body). This is one of the worst pieces of armor in the game. The only advantage is that it is light.

The next type of armor is studded-leather armor. Slightly stronger than leather, its AR is about 16. This type of armor is good for the adventurer that needs speed. The armor is light weight and will not bog down the dexterity too much. However, this armor is still less than two-thirds as effective as plate armor.

Next comes ringmail armor. This armor is rings of metal woven together to form a loose lattice. This armor take a jump in AR to about 20. Good for the wayfarer who is concerned about travel though the wilderness, but not going to engage in much battle. This armor is still light enough to allow for escape.

Chainmail is a strong armor of tightly sewn links of metal to for a sheath impenetrable to a medium strength blow. The AR for chainmail is 23. This armor is not much heavier than ringmail, but is going to tax your dexterity much. I would advise this armor if you are looking for both protection and a fair dexterity at a low price.

i Next is plate armor, the strongest armor in the game. It has am AR of 30 and with protect from many a foe. Be careful though, with protection comes a price. Plate armor cam reduce your dexterity by more than half and requires at least 30-60 strength to equip. This is the armor for the fighting swordsmen.

One special type of armor is bone armor is requires less strength than plate. It also gives the same protection as plate. The most important aspect is that it doesn't weigh nearly as much as plate does. On the down side is that it can only be found and cannot be repaired.

Helmets and shields are different from the other armor in that they don't have all the types of armor. These are special armors and should be looked at individually.

Armor has a type for every taste. From the heroic adventureer to the traveling merchant, there is a proper armor. Just remember, except for bone, the more protection it gives the slower it will make you go and the lower it will make you dexterity.
