New Way to Fight Criminals
Lord British has recently instated a new system to judge the notoriety
of others. The system is far more complete than the system that was
previously in place. This syustem exposes the criminals for who they
are and allows justice to come swiftly to those who commit dishonorable
acts. Criminals will have no place to hide now that everyone can see
then for who they truly are.
Lord British developed the system after numerous complaints about the
old system of notoriety, there were those people who where being
wrongly accused of crimes that they didn't commit. There were also
those who hid behind the mask of their notoriety eventhough they had
acheived it dishonorably. Pkers were getting away with murder with no
penalties for their actions. Crime ran rampant and you couldn't even
go to the the bank without being tormented by theives. Because Lord
British's guards di not know who the criminals were, they could do
nothing. Lord Bristish's new system ends the injustice. Those foolish
enough to commit crimes are punished on sight, if not by guards then
by other players.
The new system is set up very well and allows people to protect
themselves better than before. For example, anyone who steals whether
caught by guards or not will be flagged by the citizens in the area as
criminal. This criminal would then be able to be attacked and the
guards would realize that the theif had commited a crime and would not
interfere. This allows people to kill a theif eventhough nobody saw
the ytheif steal anything but you. It is also harder for pkers to go
free. Lord British has not only set up an extensive bounty system, but
has also created a way to mark murderers and tell the people of them.
There will be no person that will go out into the woods and not
recognize a murderer when they see them. Murderers names are shrouded
in the blood of their victims and they are know as murderers across
the land.
Another improved portion of the new system is the separation of fame
and karma. Fame is bascially how renowned and famous a person is. Fame
is gained by doing things that people will remember you by, like
killing (good or evil), completing quests, or saving a vilage from
destruction. Karma on the other hand, is how good of a person you are
(whether or not you give to the poor, whether or not you help people
out, etc.). Lord Brisith then keeps track of peoples accomplishments
by issuing titles to people depending on their fame and karma. A
person who is evil may have high fame or low fame but will always have
low karma. (below is a chart showing the different titles associated
with fame and karma)
The current system is far more effective than the old system because
murderers are always criminals and attacked on site by town guards.
Also, theives cannot escape justice eventhough they escape the wrath
of town guards. The new notoriety syatem allows for a wider range of
title so it is easier to judge a person. Overall, Lord British has
done an effective job at creating an efficient and useful justice
system.

Bounties = Profits

With the implementation of Lord British's new criminal system, the
occupation of bounty hunters has seen a renewal. The new system
allows those that have been murdered to place some of their fortune
on the head of their killers. The result of this ability is bounties
nearing 100K. With bounties this high it's hard to resist going out
to snatch one of the killers.
The bounty system has been set up very well by Lord British. When a
person is killed by any criminal, they are allowed to place money on
that criminals head. When the player killer is brought to justice by
another of Britannia's natives, they can take the head of their
victim to the nearest guard and turn the head over and receive the
bounty. Actvie player killers have huge bounties on their heads.
Anyone lucky enough to kill one of these people would recieve a huge
reward, not to mention any items the pker had on them at the time.
The largest bounties are posted throughout the land. Almost every inn
and bank has a messageboard filled with the 20 top murderers on that
shard. Each message states the bounty being offered, a description of
the person, and how many murders they have committed. It is then a
simple matter of defeating the murderer and collecting the bounty.
Once the bounty is collected the bounty is reset to zero and it starts
all over again. Also, the nurder is penalized as well with a 25% stat
loss when they ressurect.
This new system will hopefully stop a lot of the player killing that
goes on. The rewards will entice many adventurers to go to dungeons
and look for pkers. Even spliting a huge bounty between a group is
profitable. Now is the best time for adventurers to pick up their
swords and fight the murderers.
