Today I recieved word that the Shrine of Spirituality has been attacked again. The attacker this time was not Juo'Nar but an angry band of orcs looking for trouble. The orcs pushed their way into the peaceful shrine and set the structure a blaze. As the monks inside scattered and the people began to flee, word soon spread to the town criers and the people were alerted. Many warrior responded to the call. Eventually, the ranks of the enemy were crushed. Then something strange happened gold began to appear around the shrine, everywhere gold. The warriors left that day a bit heavier then they arrived but they had completed their job. Why were the orcs attacking the shrine? Why did the money appear? One can only guess this latest twist is the everchanging world of Britannia. |

Update: Many new developements have take place since this article has been written. Recently, the twin a the Liche Lathari, Kyrnia, has made a grand appearence. She has come in the form of another liche. She set up a tower on the southern time of the mainland and opened some type of portal. The portal was placed inside of a pentagram with fires burning around it. Also at the same time, undead began to appear from the ground all across the land. Eventually, the liche disappeared and the remaining beasts were vanquished. The liche did escape with the item used to create the portal but it appears that some sort of stones were recovered from the area. It is my belief that the liches have opened some sort of black gate to the underworld and plan to use this gate to bring hoards of undead back to this world. I only hope they can be stopped before this happens. A new power is rising to destory all that we have worked for. We must not allow this power to become strong or we will be vanquished. The very heart of the matter lies in a mage who was once a man and an evil criminal organization. The problems began many years ago when two young vigilant pupils delved too deep into the realm of magic. The name of these men were Lathari and Kyrnia. They went beyond there art of wholesome magic and into the art of necromancy. The mages of the land knew very well that necromancy was the way of evil. The only punishment that could fit this crime was banishment. The mages Lathari and Kyrnia were sent from the land and execution awaited them if they ever returned. No one heard any more from them, but when they left they layed a curse on the land and vowed they would return. The days passed and soon the curse was forgotten, lives went on and people were happy. The two evil mages became no more than story and tale. However, the land was not rid of all evil. Monsters still ravaged the towns and theifs stole from the citizens. Certainly this was not a curse, nor were things perfect. Crime was so horrible that organizations began to crop up and power hungry warlords fought for power. These petty power fueds continued and continue into the present. No clear leader has shown through but an organization known as the Zog Cabal is gaining strength and will stop at nothing the imprison us all. They have had free reign so far murdering the beloved Lord Hatham. To make matters worse a member known as Juo'Nar has committed an extremely heanous crime against our wonderful shrine. He attacked three priests at the Shrine of Spirituality and murdered them all in cold blood. He gave them no chance to defend themselves and no chance at life. This event is extremely disturbing and the circumstances around it are strange. Apparently, after killing the priests he picked up an object that appear to emit a powerful light. Bystanders watched him as he committed this crime and were helpless to his heavy sword. One man even had a conversation with Juo'Nar in which there was speak of immense power and the enslaving of the people. When this conversation ended he simply vanished leaving his horror behind. At this moment the monks of the shrines have taken a vow of silence to honor their brothers and they refuse to speak about what was stolen or what the intentions of the attacker were. Although it appears I have gotten off subject, in the next few paragraphs it will all become clear. Later that day the Zog Cabal released a terrifying statement full of riddles. The statement read : Timely fears across a baneful sea drift aimless and outward. Drafted from the abyss of deep waters rises tides of aspect most terrible. Carved bloody from obsidian form. Cast forth silent amidst the din of foolish prophets. These choices made, stained with falsehoods. Philosophies of order disordered and destroyed. We choose not the sleeping death of passions frozen cold by restriction that serve but one Listless Brute. Fools in noble garb serving the platitudes of decadence lain soft in bedding woven smooth by silken hands of complicit nature. This fate chosen by a Broken Tyrant shall also not be ours. Our future will now begin. The shadows will live, the secrets made flesh. Drink deep the beautiful torments that order will suffer. Gorge thineselves on the feast that bountiful chaos will spawn. Sink slowly into the whirlpool. Inhale the only freedom thou wilt ever truly know. --THE ZOG CABAL This statement I believe is an omen of what will be coming and it appears that this organization has the power to possibly make the omen true. We must move carefully to battle this foe and prevnt them from gaining any more power. At the beginning of this article I explained to you the story of how Lathari and Kynria were banished. Well now is where I tie it into the rest. Recently, an ominous sign was given to us. Near the town of yew the ground unleashed a torment of beasts. The beasts were so horid we only see them in our nightmares. They were not of the living any more, undead. Skeletons and Zombies marched towards Yew destroying all that stood in the way. The leader of this unstoppable force was referred to as Liche Lathari. I have paid close attention to the following lines:
The three events I told you about (the mage brothers, the murder at the shrine, and the letter from the Zog Cabal) are all realated. I believe that this crime organization and the undead have found a source of enormous power. The glowing object that was found at the shrine I believ is part of the object "Shrinestone". We must allow these forces to control us and I urge us all to protect the shrines and hunt down both these undead and the Zog Cabal. It is the the only way to save ourselves. --Krosis |

Who is the Sage Humbolt?
Sage Humbolt is a little know but powerful mage. He has devoted his life to research and the actions of good. He is now finally beginning to gain notoriety and seeing the results of years of work. The Sage has been very private about his history, it is only known that he has travel much across the land and he was once rumored to have been one of Lord British's personal advisors. His years of study have brought him more than once across the names Lathari and Kyrnia, this has given him a chance to study their work and learn of their art of necromancy. Unlike the twins however the sage does not try to use this art to his advantage nor does he delve into it dangerously. He has decided the powers are too dangerous to mess with and its power far too tempting. He is now in the library of Britain researching and attempting to find a way to defeat the twins. What are the twins planning? This questions is one that has put us all on the edge of our seats. Why are these twins coming back? Is it for revenge from being banished, is it out of spite that the mages guild prevented them from continuing their research, or is there some deeper more sinister reason. As of yet the twins have failed to make their intentions clear. It is for certain that these two have an extreme hate for the people of this land it is also apparent that they are hungry for power and will stop at nothing to gain it. The twins have apparently been trying to both complete their work on an immortality necklace and at the same time attemption to open a link between this world and the world of the dead. These actions have led some scholars to believe that the twins are continuing their research into bringing thier dead mother back to life. Although this sounds ludicrous it does have some very good evidence to back it up. First there was the Liche Lathari's journey to his house near Yew, perhaps he was retrieving some item from the body of his mother, which he apparently kept there after her death. This item would allow the twins to find their mother in the afterlife. Next there was the strange gate that was created in the tower. This gate was a link to the underworld, the place they would find their mother. And finally there is the necklace that Juo'nar stole from the Shrine of Spirituality this piece of jewlery would be used to keep their mother alive and bring her back to life after she was brought out of the underworld. As you can see quite a bit of evidence but also a lot of guesses. Until they make there intentions clear we may never know their true intentions. Is Blackthorn at the Center?
Recent happenings have brought chaos to our otherwise calm land. It has been brought to
my attention that Lord Blackthorn may be responsible for the recent happenings in the
realm. The firts piece of evidence that has come up is that during the Wake of Hartham a
nysterious member of the Zog Cabal consatly refered to the word "chaos". This happens to
be the same virtue that Lord Blackthorn finds dear. Another piece of evidence is the portal
that the twin Kyrnia opened recently. This gate I believ is a gate to the underworld and in
writings called The scrolls of the ancient, these texts speak of a powerful leader
who is consumed by evil and and enters the black gate to the underworld. This is all, of course,
speculation and should be taken lightly. |
